“China’s online game industry has enjoyed rapid development momentum in the past five years, with total online game players rising to 75.98 million at present, from 32.6 million in 2006”, said Sun Shoushan, vice-governor at GAPP, at “The 9th ChinaJoy Summit” on July 27 in Shanghai.

China’s E-book industry has been facing tremendous upheavals since May this year, at a time when a price deduction war was launched among E-book device manufacturers. Industry giant “Hanwang” in mid-July announced a heavy deficit in its H1 2011 financial report. Rumors followed that competitors like Founder and Aigo are making tentative moves to quit the market.
A number of Shenzhen-based SME E-book manufacturers say they are shifting their focus to panel sets for computer use.

It is reported that China’s Film Industry Promotion Proposal drafted by SARFT has been submitted to the State Council and is under review. The proposal aims to relieve restrictions on film production, distribution and screening, as well as further opening up China’s film industry to private investment.
- SARFT to Ban Websites Illegally Offering AV Content to TV Sets07/28/2011 - 03:57
SARFT on July 14 released an internal notification. As disclosed by insiders, the notification targeted the banning of illegal offerings of audio and video content by STB and/or DVD to TV sets. According to the notification, such offerings should be under the guidance of 3-Networks Convergence Solution, and can only be available in trial cities approved by SARFT. Such content offerings are strictly banned in non-trial cities.
