• China's First Micro-Film R&D Base Center Opens

    A micro-film R&D center and production base started operation in Ningxia Software Park of Yinchuan city on July 24. The newly-established center will specialize in industry research, project development and professional training of micro-film producers.

    The latest statistics released by SARFT show that China’s radio and TV industry achieved total revenue of RMB101.97b (US$15.78b) during the first half of 2011, up 22.15% y-o-y. Of this, advertising revenues amounted to RMB53.77b (US$8.32b), rising 22.93% y-o-y.

  • China Film Exhibition Launched in Rome

    The China Film Exhibition was launched in Rome on July 18. It was co-hosted by SARFT, the Chinese Embassy in Italy, and Trastevere Association of Rome. A Chinese filmmakers delegation led by Yang Hongtao, a film director and GM at Ningxia Film Group, presented at the opening ceremony.
    A total of seven Chinese films, including Confucius (Kong Zi), Mei Lanfang, and After Shock (Tangshan Dadizhen), are expected to screen at the four-day event.

  • French Filmmakers on Sino-France Film Cooperation

    According to Antoine de Clermont, President of uniFrance, a total of 7 French films screened in China in 2010, much higher than the 2 to 3 films of previous years.
    Eric Garandeau, chairman of Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC), praised the 1st China Film Festival held in France and said CNC will support the 2nd China Film Festival by inviting more French directors and actors to take part in professional communication and exchange events.

    French filmmakers also expressed their special interest in further cooperation and future co-production of animation films with Chinese counterparts.

  • “Transformers” Adds IMAX Release

    Sci-fi film Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be released on July 21 on 31 IMAX 3-D screens across China. Dark of the Moon was the first Transformers film to be shot in 3-D. The first two titles in the franchise were big hits, taking RMB268.7 million (US$41.5 million) and RMB422.9 million (US$65.4 million) respectively.
