German Films at Shanghai International Film Festival

June 2010 saw the 6th FOCUS GERMANY at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). Over the years FOCUS GERMANY, which showcases 10-15 German films in Shanghai movie theatres each year, has become one of SIFF's must-attend events, and has provided the Shanghai audience with a comprehensive overview of present German filmmaking.

As part of FOCUS GERMANY at SIFF, each year a German film delegation including producers, actors, distribution companies etc. travels to Shanghai. The event provides a strong platform for German and Chinese film professionals to meet and exchange ideas on cooperation.

German films showcased at SIFF 2010 include Alain Gsponer's My Words, My Lies - My Love (Lila, Lila), Lancelot von Naso's Iraq war drama Ceasefire (Waffenstillstand) and Frieder Wittich's 13 Semester. Neele Leana Vollmar's box office success Wedding Fever in Campobello (Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht!) could be seen in competition for the prestigious Jin Jue Award.
