- “Transformer 3” Box Office Hits RMB400m; Outperforms “Avatar”07/28/2011 - 03:45
As of July 25, four days after release, the box office takings of “Transformer 3” totaled RMB400m (US$62.08m) in mainland China. This outperforms “Avatar” which achieved China box office of RMB280m (US$43.46m) in its first week. The IMAX release of “Transformer 3” took RMB18m (US$2.79m) in the first three days.

2010 China Advertising Revenue List for Media Practitioners was released recently by the Chinese Advertising Association. CCTV Advertising Management Center ranked top with total revenue of RMB18.84 billion (US$2.92 billion) in 2010. SMG (Radio & TV Section) ranked second with Hunan TV third.
- Macao to Launch Sports & Entertainment Satellite Channel07/28/2011 - 03:42
Trial broadcasts of Zhongbo Satellite TV, a Macao-based channel offering sports and entertainment content, will be launched on November 18.
It is understood that Zhongbo Satellite TV has set up marketing offices in Macao and Zhuhai. It will also open marketing offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and other Asian cities. The new channel also invested HK$100 million (US$12.83 million) in building up a program production center in Chongqing.

CCTV Shopping Channel recently launched its global supplier conference at the Beijing Shangri-La Hotel. Economists and senior officials from CCTV and SARFT attended the conference which attracted over 700 entrepreneurs both from China and abroad.

CCTV-Espanol and CCTV-French completed rebranding on July 18, 2011. The latest rebranding concentrates on building up news-comprehensive channels, as well as enhancing the diversity of program genres by adding more TV-dramas and documentaries.
CCTV-E&F Channel was launched on October 1, 2004. On October 1, 2007, the channel split into two separate channels, namely, CCTV-Espanol and CCTV-French. At present, CCTV-Espanol lands in 19 countries with coverage of 15.59 million households; and CCTV-French lands in 61 countries with coverage of 20.65 million households.
