Drama Acquisition Staff Arrested at a Number of Broadcasters
February 03, 2015

In what seems to be a trend that will be continuing for some time, executives at a number of major state broadcasters have been arrested and put under investigation for corruption.

At Anhui TV more than ten acquisition executives have been detained, including head of the editor in chief’s office Mr. Xiao Rong. At the same time, Jiangsu TV has seen a number of personnel from its acquisition department put under investigation. Also detained was the head of the drama acquisition department, Mr. Yu Yong, at city level broadcaster Nanjing TV.

The moves follow the earlier arrest of former Anhui TV President Zhang Suzhou as earlier reported in China Media News.

In a statement, Liu Qiufang, the Director at the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at SAPPRFT, noted that corruption investigations in the following areas will be focused on: content acquisition, equipment acquisition, advertising, news, program distribution and channel landing, Gala shows drama acquisition and advertising departments.
