Korea’s SBS has announced a co-production deal with heavyweight satellite station Zhejiang TV for a local version of its hit show Running Man. The Chinese adapted variety show will be called Run, Brother!

Slated for an October launch, the first season of the show is rumored to have a production budget of nearly US$13 million, which industry experts note is higher than that of The Voice of China. Running Man will have seven celebrity MCs including The Breakup Guru star Deng Chao.

The show classifies itself as "urban action variety" whereby The MCs and guests complete missions in a well-known urban landmark to win a race.

The original Korean version of the show has been a hugely popular topic on Chinese social media sites with more than 10 million Weibo comments and 230 million views across 25 episodes on Iqiyi: second only to Where are we going Dad? on the site.
