US Dramas Banned From VOD Sites

Four US dramas, The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife, The Practice and NCIS, have been banned on China’s VOD sites recently, though it is still unknown whether this is because of content or incorrect submission procedures.
 
Sohu Video owns the exclusive broadcast rights to The Big Bang Theory. The other three broadcast rights are non-unexclusively owned by Sohu Video, Youku and Tencent Video. Sohu has suffered the most this time since they own most US dramas. 
 
On March 19, SAPPRFT released a notice to strengthen content censorship on online dramas and micro films. (New Self-censorship Regulation on VOD Dramas, 
 
Reports say that after the notice, most VOD  sites waited and watched, suspending acquisition of US dramas and turning to  Korean and Japanese suppliers. 
 
At the same time of cracking down the American dramas on VOD sites, one of CCTV’s pay channels Movie 1 (Di Yi Ju Chang) began to broadcast the uncut and dubbing version of American drama The Game of Thrones on Apr 27. CCTV also announced to broadcast the dubbing version of The Big Bang Theory soon.
