Mainland Imports First 'R' Rated Film

The Spanish film El orfanato will premiere in the middle of April across mainland China, reports Beijing Times. This will be China's first import of an R rated (Restricted) film according to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) classification. It features a horror story about a woman who brings her family back to her childhood home, and her son who starts to communicate with an invisible new friend. China Film Group (CFG) will be responsible for distributing this film. CFG spokesperson Weng Li said they will ask cinemas to note the requirement for a parent or adult guardian to accompany people under 17 to see this film.
